Dr Tariq Mahmood

Dr Mahmood is a barrister with over 20 years of experience in high-value, cross-border commercial dispute resolution. His practice spans litigation, arbitration, and mediation, with a focus on: • Complex commercial disputes • Restructuring and insolvency • Contentious trusts and estates • Insurance and reinsurance • Funds and investment-related litigation He represents a wide range of clients, including multinational corporations, financial institutions, trustees, insurers, and high-net-worth individuals, often in matters with a multi-jurisdictional dimension across London, Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Europe. As counsel, Dr Mahmood has acted under all major arbitral rules (ICC, LCIA, DIAC, SIAC, UNCITRAL, and ad hoc) and also serves as an arbitrator and mediator in institutional and standalone proceedings worldwide. His appointments have included cases in the UAE, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, and Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and sits on several international arbitration and mediation panels. Alongside his practice, Dr Mahmood is a Visiting Professor at Durham University and a regular lecturer at global institutions.
